Getting Involved in Carbon Offsetting
Carbon offsetting involves individuals, businesses or organisations paying to "offset" or compensate for their emissions on a tonne by tonne basis. For each recorded tonne of carbon that is emitted, money is paid to initiatives working towards carbon reduction to reduce one tonne of carbon. Therefore, the carbon is "offset".
EcoTrak fuel saving technology
CMS SupaTrak have developed EcoTrak - an award winning fuel and carbon saving technology in conjunction with the waste, haulage and transport industries. The technology is a driver and vehicle management tool, which enables businesses to monitor and manage their driver’s behaviours and highlights areas of performance that could be developed in order to improve overall driving efficiency. This development is offered through remedial training and re education, delivered by independent Fuel Saving Consultants and experienced driver trainers. By encouraging more fuel efficient driving behaviour, your business will not only achieve better fuel economy, but will significantly reduce its vehicle carbon emissions.
Diamond Standard Carbon Exchanges Ltd (DSCEL)
CMS SupaTrak have recently been awarded Diamond Standard verification from the DSCEL, after working through the thorough verification process, set by a well established and regulated carbon emissions consultancy, Complete Integrated Certification Services (CICS). CICS assessed EcoTrak and its ability to provide actual, consistent carbon monitoring reports
and reducing vehicle carbon emissions. Now verified, this means that organisations using EcoTrak are not only able to reduce their vehicle carbon emissions, but accurately measure the reduction and sign ownership of the carbon saved over to DSCEL. DSCEL then sell the carbon to generate funds to invest in, or subsidise, further carbon reduction activities.
Our customers
A number of our customers have already signed agreements to pass ownership of carbon savings achieved through the use of EcoTrak to Diamond Standard Carbon Exchanges Ltd. There are no financial implications to customers using EcoTrak of getting involved in the CMS SupaTrak carbon offsetting programme, but there are many business benefits including stakeholder appeal and current and future
legislative compliance.
