SupaTrak helps Scorpion Engineering recover costs
SupaTrak, the vehicle tracking system developed by CMS Global Technologies of Swindon, is increasingly proving the perfect solution for a diverse range of companies wishing to manage, control, monitor and manoeuvre their mobile assets more efficiently.
Scorpion Engineering, the Swindon car recovery and repair firm, knew it needed a tracking system to make its operations more visible and accountable. The question was which could do the job best and at the same time be cost effective.
Managing Director Nigel Hannon was recommended to check out SupaTrak and has now fitted it to five of his vehicles. Pleased with the result he plans to fit units to another three vehicles.
“I was primarily looking for a better way ensure the vehicles were not being misused and as a means of controlling fuel consumption,” he says.
“We get emergency call outs all the time and there is always the temptation to speed or to drive the vehicles too hard in a bid to get to a customer as fast as possible. When we are transporting vehicles speed and safety can also be issues that need monitoring, not to mention the occasional temptation for the driver the take the scenic route or build in the odd deviation, which costs the company unnecessary time and money.
“I needed to see what was going on and to have a record of events in order to find ways where we could reduce fuel consumption and save time without adversely affecting our ability to provide the level of service our customers expect. SupaTrak allows me to do this and has made all parts of our business more accountable. It’s proving a great innovation and in time I expect it will provide the catalyst for other changes that can improve productivity and make the business more efficient,” he adds.
As Nigel’s experience demonstrates, SupaTrak has many uses beyond simple tracking. Low cost and user friendly, the system updates a vehicle’s position every 60 seconds, whilst the centrally-hosted web browser UK mapping facility ensures all vehicles are always visible at all times.
SupaTrak also comes with a comprehensive reporting function that includes start/stop and historic ‘snail trail’ options, so users can see where their vehicles have been, when and at what speed.
Add in some of the other available options such as satellite navigation, telemetry recorders and full European mapping, together with the ability to link SupaTrak to a company’s existing collection devices and back office systems and you have a totally integrated, secure system capable of many additional operational tasks.
But most importantly, it’s simple, it works, can communicate with almost anything and is cost effective to use, starting at 69p a day and with no ties to long-term contracts.
