Royal Mail have enhanced their Sameday service with the help of JobTrak and SupaTrak Technology from CMS SupaTrak, shaping a new generation Sameday Delivery service.
June-2006
Swindon-based CMS SupaTrak is one of several behind-the-scenes companies providing the leading edge technology being used in the enhanced Royal Mail Sameday service.
The service has been hailed as an industry first in the £1 billion Sameday delivery market, offering UK businesses and their customers the opportunity to track the vehicles delivering their consignments in real time and therefore know when they will arrive with an unrivalled degree of accuracy.
The service provides online booking and payment facilities for deliveries across the UK, and also notifies the sender that a consignment has arrived almost instantly by providing proof of delivery via the receipt signature that is emailed from the delivery driver’s PDA within seconds of signing.
The CMS JobTrak solution is installed in each vehicle and incorporates integrated satellite navigation and also GPS tracking, which relays the vehicles position every 60 seconds. CMS SupaTrak also developed the web portal interface and is hosting the website that enables senders and receivers to log on and see where their documents and other time critical goods are, and thereby be able to work out when they will arrive.
CMS SupaTrak says one of the major benefits of configuring the service this way is that it reduces waiting times: once a customer has checked and knows when to expect delivery they can plan their working day and use their time more efficiently.
Often mobility deployments can also include web interfaces such as the one above developed and hosted by CMS
“We are delighted to have played a major part in the development and operation of the new Royal Mail Sameday service and, deliver an information-rich product that businesses are demanding,” says CMS MD Jason Airey.
“The new service is a good example of the way we are able to interact with companies, working with them to devise and implement complete logistics solutions, and provide the wireless communication, vehicle and mobile worker tracking facilities that ensure their business runs seamlessly,” he adds.
