SupaTrak helps to make European Recycling collections more efficient
June 2007
SupaTrak, the vehicle tracking system developed by CMS Global Technologies of Swindon, is increasingly proving the perfect solution for a whole range of companies wishing to monitor and manage their mobile assets more efficiently. The European Recycling Company Ltd says SupaTrak is just what it needs to monitor what its drivers are doing and is proving the ideal way to ensure their flexible working schedules run as smoothly as possible.
Based in Croydon, European Recycling is the UK’s only specialist shoe recycling charity and collects unwanted shoes from the public via 3000 sites, stands and banks around the country. Each of its vehicles cover a specific region and drivers take the shoes they collect daily from these sites to a local drop-off point where they are loaded into a 40 foot container. Once the container is full the driver alerts head office and it is collected and brought down to Croydon for sorting.
SupaTrak enables the company to monitor each driver’s progress throughout his route without the need to disturb him. This is particularly handy as the drivers are all based from home and work flexible hours. SupaTrak’s reporting facility also enables the company to see and record when each driver started and finished, and to detect any issues en-route or unusual occurrences that warrant intervention. “It’s great for keeping us in touch with what’s going on without having to ask and enables us to run the business more efficiently,” says Asrar Haqqi, Senior Manager at European Recycling.
“We found the information about SupaTrak on the Internet and one of the CMS guys gave us a demonstration of what it can do, which was everything we wanted. With a business that’s as flexible as ours and drivers working their own hours, I particularly like the fact that it is web-based, which means we can access the system at any time and from any location.
“It gives us peace of mind and the reassurance that everything is working smoothly. It doesn’t interfere with drivers’ working schedules but they know that SupaTrak is fitted to their vehicles and we have told them what information it records. Because they know what we know they don’t have to spend time reporting back and can get on with their job, and we have a record of what they have done and when,” he adds.
SupaTrak can be much more than just a tracking device however. Whilst the user friendly system updates a vehicle’s position every 60 seconds and the centrally-hosted web browser UK mapping facility ensures all vehicles are visible at all times, SupaTrak also comes with a comprehensive reporting function that includes start/stop and historic ‘history trail’ options, so users can see where their vehicles have been, when and at what speed.
Other available options include satellite navigation, full European mapping and 30-second updates.
