SupaTrak brings increased visibility to motor homes and mini buses

Drive & Go, a self-drive vehicle hire firm based in Leigh-on-Sea, has had its fleet of luxury motor homes and mini buses fitted with SupaTrak, the vehicle tracking system developed by CMS Global Technologies of Swindon.

Apart from the peace of mind that comes from knowing where his valuable vehicles are at all times, Drive & Go owner Mike Headley says the system has other  benefits, not least his new-found ability to challenge some customers’ explanations of why the vehicle was not returned on time.  “It  doesn’t happen very often but when vehicles are returned late, disrupting hire to another customer, it’s very helpful to listen to some of the outrageous tales of woe and then be able to produce documented evidence from the SupaTrak historic trail reports that tell the real story,” he says.  “When confronted with the facts, the hirer almost always puts their hands up and agrees to pay any additional costs incurred.”

SupaTrak’s historic trail function enables users to see where vehicles have been, when they were there and the speed of travel.  Customers say they find it very useful for resolving any number of queries or disputes.  However, that’s not why Mike bought the system.  The main reason was security after several vehicles went missing when false documents were presented, and it took months and quite a lot of expense to get them back.

“Now,” says Mike, “I know where they are all the time and if there is a problem we have a much easier task finding them.  With motor homes costing around £45,000 each it’s a great comfort, and having SupaTrak also means I can save some money on my insurance premiums, which helps to cover its cost.”

Having decided to fit a tracking system, Mike says he found four companies online and invited each to provide more details.  CMS demonstrated the system in a ‘plain speaking’ presentation that was impressive and included a clear indication of costs.

The basic SupaTrak system provides 60-second updates.  Other available options to enhance the tracking experience include satellite navigation, full European mapping and 30-second  updates.

Having fitted SupaTrak and used it for a number of months, Mike says it is user-friendly and simple to operate.  He can’t fault the after-sales service and says CMS is always contactable.  When he moved his operation to another computer system recently, SupaTrak was quickly transferred without a hitch.
